Many of you, like me, are huge fans of Kate Wicker’s. Most have been following her recent pregnancy on her blog here. Last week Kate was hospitalized at 30 weeks pregnant with pre-term labor. She has been released and is on bed rest, for at least the time being, home with her three beautiful girls.
I was moved by the spiritual bouquet started for Arwen and Bryan Mosher and their twin boys upon their birth last month as well as the spiritual bouquet offered for Jeff and I during our struggles to conceive Shelby by a good friend and priest who we asked to be Shelby’s Godfather. Upon reading Kate’s blog for the last week, I have wanted to do offer some form of help to her family and that darn state of South Carolina is between us but I have prayed for the best way to help when it hit, duh, get a spiritual bouquet going!
If you aren’t familiar with what a spiritual bouquet is, it is essentially the collecting of prayers for one specific intention much like one would collect a bouquet of flowers. Your prayers can be as special and unique as you are: a rosary, a Chaplet of Divine Mercy, mass, an hour of adoration, fasting, an act of charity…just about anything you can think of! This bouquet will be specifically for the intention of a healthy pregnancy and birth for baby Wicker #4. And you don’t have to be Catholic for your prayers to count! Anyone who feels compelled to pray, we welcome your prayers. Please leave us a comment here with how you will honor Kate, baby Wicker, and her husband and daughters.

At 4:38 pm on August 28, 2011, Kate gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Thomas Kemp Wicker weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz and 19″ long. God Bless everyone who contributed to this spiritual bouquet in any small way! I know that I myself cannot thank you enough for all you have done!

Please be assured of our family’s prayers for Kate and Baby Wicker over the next ten weeks. May St. Raphael and St Gerard intervene to protect both Mother and child.
