So I woke up Monday very sore and very tired from a long weekend that included working AND both a visit from my parents and a dinner with my in-laws. My neck and back were starting to hurt reminiscent of Christmas Eve. God has such a sense of humor. Let’s start Lent the way we did Christmas! But I had barely started the heat compress after dropping Joey off at school when it flashed up on my interwebs that Pope Benedict XVI was resigning at the end of the month…
And my google reader decided to simultaneously blow up and quit working. SO…
as a result you’ll see a new widget on the blog here. I have created a new twitter account. You can follow me at @stmonicasbridge. I always used twitter more responsibly than facebook and it’s nice to get a variety of real-time coverage of events as they unfold. God sure did have some surprises for me this year with the start of Lent…never realized twitter would be part of my life this quickly again and/or, for the second time in my short life I’d see a Papal vacancy.
I gave up music for Lent and I’ve written about it here. And let me tell you, it is REALLY hard. I’ve eliminated my release and listening to talk/news radio 24-7 when I’m not listening to Catholic radio. Which is great except it’s not the same release. Increased prayer in my fasting is my mantra!
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? We kind of do. We don’t exchange gifts, but what we do is cook a nice meal and yesterdays was Julia Child’s Beouf Bourguignon with cheesecake for dessert. And my three little Valentines are gift enough.
Shelby is LOVING swimming with Special Olympics. Next week she adds basketball. I am curious to see how the sensory issues play into it, but I am hopeful she will come to love it.
I have to say, I do have the sweetest three little Valentines in the world. Will isn’t in school, but wanted to give out Valentines yesterday so he made up valentines for both Shelby and Joey’s classes. And he came up with idea on his own.
