Seven Quick Takes Friday

— 1 —

I had the best support group meeting ever yesterday. Lots of great autism moms and some great listening and advice. And afterward some of us went out to lunch. I had to get my boys but they were more than willing to let them join us. We spent all day out. It was probably the best day thus far in the New Year.

And jury  duty was deferred…to April…more as events unfold.

I took my car in for an inspection yesterday. My car is schizophrenic. The check engine light comes on and off with no pattern and 98% of the time, no one can figure out why. So, when it turned itself off this week and the inspection was due…well, we took it in. I’ve never had to take the car in for an inspection. For the check engine light, yes. An inspection, no. It passed. This makes my life infinitely easier because it means no worries about my registration going through and no worries about being pulled for an expired registration. It also means no costly repairs.

My mom cleans my house when she visits. I’m not complaining, I’m stating fact. I am NOT deprived, that is for sure.

I’m a dog person. Not a cat person for sure…my kids are asking for a cat. One of our dogs is not a cat person for sure either. Yes, I know how that sentence reads. My husband is also not a cat person. But my kids want one and he likes making my kids happy so I am afraid we could end up with a cat.

Isn’t this the cutest baby…ever??

Well, after my kids that is…thirteen years ago Saturday I met the growed-up version of that baby and fell in love.

That’s all I got…have a great weekend.

  1. Two items re: cats from a cat person:

    1. Male cats tend to be more social and dog-like.
    2. Cats tend to be ignored because people think they are solitary. This is really not true and cats need attention and play time each day. A lot of destructive, annoying behavior comes when cats are treated like furry furniture. Two cats generally work out better than one, since they have a built in companion and someone to burn off their considerable energy with.

    • My biggest objection right now is after three kids and two dogs, another animal to clean up after :). But I would be a lot easier to convince than our dog we rescued who hates cats. I just don’t think it would be possible as long as he is alive.

  2. Happy Anniversary!!!

I’m still trying to talk hubby into 1 pet: a dog. I told him whenever we move out of my parents house, if he ever wants to go to another conference and leave me home with the kids, we will have a dog. 🙂
