On today’s agenda: shower, get dressed, get Shelby fed, dressed and out the front door and on the bus; clean house, pack for weekend away, make sure boys are cleaned, fed and clothed; go to work and get my paycheck, deposit said paycheck, pick Shelby up from school and drive to my parents’ house. Pray for me. Trust me, I need it.
Yesterday morning a friend posed this pic on facebook. It made me smile, it made my day. Until that evening. RIP Steve Jobs.
Speaking of Apple love and loss. Buddy Valastro, the genius baker and star of TLC’s Cake Boss made this beautiful tribute to Jobs’ life and legacy and displayed in his bakery today.
I am trying to make one healthy change per week. My mother reported to me a while back that as she has gotten older, her ability to stomach dairy has gotten less and less. This worries me as I consider cheese and butter their own food groups. A friend with a son who is allergic to dairy told me that he pretty much only reacts to milk so maybe if I just eliminate milk from my diet as a drink of choice, it might help. (I’ve been having some relatively minor digestive issues of late, which prompted this step towards health.) I dislike soy milk so that was out. I decided to try almond milk. I chickened out of trying the original and went for vanilla flavored. I was pleasantly surprised. While it will never be cow’s milk to me, it’s an acceptable alternative, at least while I figure out if what I do have is lactose intolerance…
Last night I watch Joanna Lumley’s Nile on PBS. It is a beautiful documentary of the British actress’ trip from the Mediterranean Sea to the furthest know source of the Nile in the jungle mountains of Rwanda. Along the way she sees amazing things and meets even more amazing people. I totally recommend watching it if only to see Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous, absolutely sober and intelligible as well as intelligent. But I’m sure you’ll find even more to love.
Next time you see me, I’ll be a year older…and will have thoroughly celebrated my birthday by walking a 5k, celebrating with friends overnight and a Chinese lunch on the actual day thanks to friends from college…
